When you pay close attention to Irene’s artwork; you might just get to know a little about her, her friends and her travels. Irene’s artwork has sprung from a continuous, and sometimes accidental, evolution of her talents. From the time her high school art instructor required all his students to purchase a set of pastel pencils to the purchase of her digital camera; Irene has found her heart in her art. Although she began as a self-taught artist, with the guidance of other artists, who she refers to as “fabulous people".

Irene has developed her talents using a range of mediums from painting to printmaking. Many of Irene’s early pieces were commissioned works of portraits and family homes; she has donated several special pieces for local charities, and has recently begun to show her original art in the Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico, and private collections.

Since moving to Arizona from Lorain, Ohio in 1998, Irene has been creating portraits, murals, metal sculptures, photography and specializes in the fine art of printmaking. Her teaching studio JIL Ink Studios, located in New River, has been a destination for printmakers throughout the country.

In 2008 along with her husband John, they founded the Bare Naked Press Company building quality etching presses for printmakers.
